Ingredients

  • 500g beef, thinly sliced
  • 20 bamboo skewers, soaked in water
  • 5 shallots, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 lemongrass stalks, white part only, finely chopped
  • 3 kaffir lime leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Place the beef slices in a bowl.
  2. In a food processor, blend the shallots, garlic, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, turmeric, coriander, cumin, salt, and sugar into a smooth paste.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and sauté the spice paste until fragrant.
  4. Add the beef slices and cook until browned.
  5. Pour in the coconut milk and water, then simmer until the beef is tender and the sauce thickens.
  6. Thread the beef slices onto the bamboo skewers and grill over medium heat until cooked through and slightly charred.
  7. Serve the grilled beef satay with the rich and flavorful sauce.
