Sate Sapi Bakar (grilled Beef Satay)
Sate Sapi Bakar, or Grilled Beef Satay, is a popular dish in Banjar Cuisine. This flavorful and aromatic dish is perfect for gatherings and celebrations.
Ingredients
- 500g beef, thinly sliced
- 10 shallots, peeled
- 5 cloves garlic, peeled
- 2 lemongrass stalks, white part only, thinly sliced
- 5 candlenuts
- 1 inch fresh turmeric, peeled
- 1 inch galangal, peeled
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 5 Tbsp sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Bamboo skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a food processor, blend shallots, garlic, lemongrass, candlenuts, turmeric, galangal, coriander seeds, and cumin seeds until smooth.
- Marinate the beef with the blended mixture, sweet soy sauce, brown sugar, and salt for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
- Thread the marinated beef onto the soaked bamboo skewers.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and grill the beef satay for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Serve the Sate Sapi Bakar hot with steamed rice and peanut sauce.
