Sate Tempe Enak (tasty Tempeh Satay)
Sate Tempe Enak, or Tasty Tempeh Satay, is a popular Indonesian dish that features marinated and grilled tempeh skewers served with a flavorful peanut sauce. This vegetarian version of the traditional satay is a delicious and satisfying dish that can be enjoyed as an appetizer or a main course.
Ingredients
- 1 block of tempeh, cut into cubes
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 teaspoon of ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup of peanut butter
- 1/4 cup of water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the chopped onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, honey, ground coriander, ground cumin, turmeric, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
- Add the tempeh cubes to the marinade and toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Thread the marinated tempeh cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the peanut butter and water to make the satay sauce.
- Heat a grill pan or stovetop grill over medium heat. Grill the tempeh skewers for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are nicely charred.
- Serve the grilled tempeh satay with the peanut sauce and enjoy!
