Savory Cheese Pastry (Peynirli Börek)

Ingredients

  • 1 package of phyllo dough
  • 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the feta cheese, mozzarella cheese, parsley, and green onions. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Unroll the phyllo dough and place a sheet on a clean surface. Brush the sheet with melted butter.
  4. Place another sheet of phyllo dough on top and brush with butter. Repeat with 4-5 layers of phyllo dough.
  5. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the phyllo dough.
  6. Roll the dough into a log, then coil it into a spiral shape and place it on a baking sheet.
  7. Brush the top with more melted butter.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
