Savory Chuchuk (Чучук)
Чучук is a traditional Kyrgyz dish made with ground meat and spices, wrapped in a thin dough and then steamed. It is a savory and satisfying dish that is perfect for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 500g ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground meat, onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, water, and vegetable oil to make a smooth dough. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
- Place the filled dough circles in a steamer and steam for 15-20 minutes until the dough is cooked through.
- Serve the chuchuk hot with your favorite dipping sauce or yogurt.
