Savory Onion Uttapam (ಉತ್ತಪಮ್)
Uttapam is a popular South Indian dish that is similar to a thick pancake topped with vegetables. This savory onion uttapam is a delicious and nutritious dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 cups dosa batter
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- Oil for cooking
Instructions
- Heat a non-stick pan or cast iron griddle on medium heat.
- Pour a ladleful of dosa batter onto the center of the pan and spread it in a circular motion to make a thick pancake.
- Sprinkle a portion of the chopped onions, green chilies, coriander leaves, and cumin seeds on top of the uttapam.
- Drizzle a little oil around the edges and on top of the uttapam.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown, then flip and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from the pan and serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
