Savory Pastry (scrumptious Hyderabadi Lukhmi)

Ingredients

  • 500g minced meat
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour and ghee to form a crumbly mixture. Add water as needed to form a smooth dough. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown. Add the green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, and minced meat. Cook until the meat is tender.
  3. Add the red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few more minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin, round shape. Cut the round into a square and place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center. Fold the edges to form a small square-shaped pastry and seal the edges.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the lukhmis until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  6. Serve hot with mint chutney or sauce of your choice.
