Savory Pastry (scrumptious Hyderabadi Lukhmi)
Savory Pastry, also known as Lukhmi, is a popular Hyderabadi snack that is filled with spiced minced meat and deep-fried to perfection. It is a delicious and satisfying treat that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 500g minced meat
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup ghee
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the flour and ghee to form a crumbly mixture. Add water as needed to form a smooth dough. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown. Add the green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, and minced meat. Cook until the meat is tender.
- Add the red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few more minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin, round shape. Cut the round into a square and place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center. Fold the edges to form a small square-shaped pastry and seal the edges.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the lukhmis until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot with mint chutney or sauce of your choice.
