Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice flour
  • 1/2 cup urad dal flour
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, asafoetida, butter, and salt.
  2. Add water little by little and knead the mixture into a smooth dough.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Fill the murukku press with the dough and press it in a circular motion directly into the hot oil.
  5. Fry the murukku until it turns golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
  8. Let the murukku cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
