Savory Rice Pancakes (dhuska)
Savory Rice Pancakes, also known as Dhuska, are a popular snack from the Jharkhandi Cuisine. These crispy and flavorful pancakes are made with rice and lentils, and are perfect for breakfast or as a tea-time snack.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice
- 1/2 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Wash and soak the rice and chana dal in water for 4-5 hours.
- Drain the water and grind the rice and dal to a coarse paste using a little water.
- Transfer the paste to a bowl and add chopped onion, green chilies, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Heat oil in a pan. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
- Remove the pancakes from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot with chutney or sauce.
