Savory Stuffed Dumplings (Çibörek)
Çibörek is a traditional Crimean Tatar dish consisting of savory stuffed dumplings. These delicious dumplings are filled with a flavorful mixture of ground meat, onions, and spices, then fried to golden perfection. They are perfect for a hearty meal or a delightful snack.
Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup water
- 500g flour
- 1 cup warm water
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, onions, salt, black pepper, paprika, and water to make the filling.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and warm water to make the dough. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle.
- Place a spoonful of the filling onto one half of the dough circle, then fold the other half over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges to seal the dumpling.
- In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the dumplings until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the fried dumplings and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the Çibörek hot and enjoy!
