Ingredients

  • 2 cups sauerkraut
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sauerkraut, apples, onion, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, caraway seeds, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish and pour the vegetable broth over the top.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the sauerkraut mixture.
