Saxon Apricot Jam (Baracklekvár)
Baracklekvár, also known as Saxon Apricot Jam, is a traditional Transylvanian Saxon recipe that has been passed down through generations. This sweet and tangy jam is perfect for spreading on bread, pastries, or using as a filling for cakes and cookies.
Ingredients
- 2 kg ripe apricots, pitted and chopped
- 1 kg granulated sugar
- 1 lemon, juiced
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the chopped apricots, sugar, and lemon juice.
- Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until the jam thickens.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let the jam cool for 5-10 minutes.
- Pour the jam into sterilized jars and seal tightly. Allow the jam to cool completely before storing.
