Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons sweet paprika
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the pot and brown them on all sides.
  3. Sprinkle the sweet paprika over the chicken and onions, and stir to coat everything evenly.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and season with salt and pepper. Cover the pot and simmer for 45 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pot and set it aside. Stir the sour cream into the sauce until well combined.
  6. Return the chicken to the pot and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Adjust the seasoning if needed, and serve the Csirkepaprikás hot with homemade egg noodles or dumplings.
