Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds fresh scallops
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup dry white wine
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Rinse the scallops and pat them dry with paper towels. Arrange them in a single layer in a baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Remove the sauce from the heat and stir in the Gruyère and Parmesan cheeses, white wine, and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour the sauce over the scallops in the baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix the fresh breadcrumbs with the melted butter. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the scallops.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and the sauce is bubbly.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional fresh parsley if desired.
