Scotch pie is a traditional Scottish meat pie that is perfect for a hearty meal or a snack on the go.

Ingredients

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 500g plain flour
  • 250g lard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix the minced beef, chopped onion, crumbled stock cube, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Roll out two-thirds of the pastry and use it to line 6 individual pie tins.
  4. Divide the meat mixture between the pie tins.
  5. Roll out the remaining pastry and use it to cover the pies. Seal the edges and trim off any excess pastry.
  6. Make a small hole in the center of each pie to allow steam to escape.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the filling is cooked through.
