Ingredients
- 4 herring fillets, salted and filleted
- 4 medium potatoes, boiled and diced
- 2 large beets, boiled and diced
- 2 large carrots, boiled and diced
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Layer the bottom of a serving dish with the sliced onions.
- Place the herring fillets on top of the onions.
- Spread a layer of mayonnaise over the herring.
- Add a layer of diced potatoes on top of the herring.
- Spread another layer of mayonnaise over the potatoes.
- Add a layer of diced beets on top of the potatoes.
- Spread another layer of mayonnaise over the beets.
- Add a layer of diced carrots on top of the beets.
- Spread the Dijon mustard over the carrots.
- Finish with a final layer of mayonnaise, covering the entire salad.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
