Ingredients
- 1 cup semolina
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds or pistachios for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the semolina to the pan and cook, stirring constantly, until it turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma.
- In a separate saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes to create a simple syrup.
- Slowly pour the hot simple syrup into the semolina mixture, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
- Add the milk and continue to cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let the halva rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Garnish with chopped almonds or pistachios before serving.
