Semur Daging Ala Indonesia (indonesian-style Beef Stew)
Semur Daging is a popular Indonesian beef stew that is rich in flavor and spices. This dish is often enjoyed with steamed rice and is perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 500g beef, cut into cubes
- 3 shallots, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 cups beef broth
- 2 bay leaves
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Sauté the shallots and garlic until fragrant.
- Add the beef cubes and cook until browned on all sides.
- Stir in the sweet soy sauce, tamarind paste, ground coriander, and ground nutmeg. Mix well.
- Pour in the beef broth and add the bay leaves. Season with salt and pepper.
- Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the Semur Daging hot with steamed rice.
