Sesame Rice, also known as Nuvvula Annam in Andhra Cuisine, is a flavorful and aromatic dish made with sesame seeds and rice. It is a popular dish in South India and is often served as a main course or as part of a festive meal.

Sesame Rice (nuvvula Annam)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 3 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2-3 dry red chilies
  • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan and dry roast the sesame seeds until they turn golden brown. Remove from the pan and allow them to cool.
  2. Grind the roasted sesame seeds into a fine powder using a blender or mortar and pestle.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and dry red chilies. Sauté until the seeds start to splutter.
  4. Add the cooked rice, ground sesame powder, roasted peanuts, and salt. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  5. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
