Sesame Rice (nuvvula Annam)
Sesame Rice, also known as Nuvvula Annam in Andhra Cuisine, is a flavorful and aromatic dish made with sesame seeds and rice. It is a popular dish in South India and is often served as a main course or as part of a festive meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 3 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2-3 dry red chilies
- 1/4 cup roasted peanuts
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat a pan and dry roast the sesame seeds until they turn golden brown. Remove from the pan and allow them to cool.
- Grind the roasted sesame seeds into a fine powder using a blender or mortar and pestle.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and dry red chilies. Sauté until the seeds start to splutter.
- Add the cooked rice, ground sesame powder, roasted peanuts, and salt. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
