Sesame Rice (nuvvula Pulihora)
Sesame Rice, also known as Nuvvula Pulihora, is a popular dish from the Andhra Cuisine. This flavorful rice dish is made with sesame seeds and a mix of aromatic spices, making it a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 3 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2-3 dried red chilies
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Few curry leaves
- 2 tbsp roasted peanuts
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, chopped
Instructions
- In a pan, dry roast the sesame seeds until they turn golden brown. Remove from the pan and allow them to cool.
- Grind the roasted sesame seeds into a coarse powder using a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and dried red chilies. Sauté until the seeds splutter.
- Add turmeric powder, salt, and curry leaves. Mix well.
- Add the cooked rice and the ground sesame powder. Mix gently to combine all the ingredients.
- Garnish with roasted peanuts and chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve the delicious Sesame Rice hot or at room temperature.
