Sesame Tofu (芝麻豆腐)
Sesame Tofu, also known as 芝麻豆腐 (zhīma dòufu), is a popular dish in American Chinese cuisine. This recipe combines the smooth texture of tofu with the nutty flavor of sesame, creating a delicious and satisfying dish.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and cornstarch. Set aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the garlic, ginger, and green onions. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Return the tofu to the skillet and pour the sauce over the tofu. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring gently to coat the tofu with the sauce.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve hot.
