Seychelles Octopus Curry
Seychelles Octopus Curry is a traditional dish from the Seychellois Cuisine, known for its rich flavors and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs octopus, cleaned and cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 can coconut milk
- 2 tbsp curry powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Add the tomatoes, curry powder, turmeric, cumin seeds, and green chilies. Cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes are soft.
- Add the octopus pieces to the pot and stir well to coat them with the spices.
- Pour in the coconut milk and season with salt. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat and cover the pot. Let it cook for about 1 hour, or until the octopus is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
