Sha Phaley (tibetan Style Spicy Lamb Curry)
Sha Phaley is a traditional Tibetan dish that consists of spicy lamb curry wrapped in a crispy, golden-brown dough. This savory and flavorful dish is a popular street food in Sikkim and is perfect for a hearty meal or a snack.
Ingredients
- 500g minced lamb
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- Water for dough
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the minced lamb, onions, garlic, ginger, green chilies, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- Prepare the dough by mixing the all-purpose flour with water to form a smooth, elastic dough. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into circles.
- Place a spoonful of the marinated lamb mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the filled dough until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
- Remove the Sha Phaley from the pan and drain excess oil on a paper towel. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or chutney.
