Shaiyah, also known as Bor Beef Kebabs, is a popular dish in South Sudanese cuisine. These flavorful kebabs are made with marinated beef and are perfect for grilling or cooking on the stovetop.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the onion, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and salt to create the marinade.
- Add the beef cubes to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat a stovetop grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated beef cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers.
- Place the kebabs on the preheated grill or skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until the beef is cooked to your desired doneness.
- Remove the kebabs from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
