Ingredients
- 1 whole duck, cut into pieces
- 1 cup shiitake mushrooms, sliced
- 3 slices ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp five-spice powder
- 2 cups chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the duck pieces and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the duck from the pot and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the ginger, garlic, and green onions. Sauté until fragrant.
- Return the duck to the pot. Add the soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sugar, five-spice powder, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1.5 hours, or until the duck is tender.
- Add the shiitake mushrooms to the pot and continue to simmer for another 30 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the braised duck with mushrooms hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
