Shandong Style Braised Pork Ribs is a classic dish in Shandong Cuisine, known for its bold flavors and tender meat. This recipe combines the richness of pork ribs with the savory and slightly sweet braising sauce, resulting in a mouthwatering dish that is perfect for family gatherings or special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg pork ribs
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 3 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 5 slices ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 star anise
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 3 cups water
Instructions
- Blanch the pork ribs in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- In a separate pot, combine soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and sugar. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the blanched pork ribs, ginger, garlic, star anise, and cinnamon to the pot. Stir to coat the ribs with the sauce.
- Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the pork ribs are tender.
- Once the pork ribs are tender, uncover the pot and continue to simmer until the sauce thickens.
