Shanghai Steamed Crab (上海蒸螃蟹)

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs live crabs
  • 2 inches ginger, sliced
  • 3 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crabs by cleaning and removing the top shell.
  2. Place the ginger and green onions on a heatproof plate and put the crabs on top.
  3. Mix the Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil, then pour over the crabs.
  4. Steam the crabs over high heat for 12-15 minutes until they turn red.
  5. Serve hot and enjoy!
