Ingredients
- 2 lbs beef brisket, cut into chunks
- 3 slices ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 1 tbsp rock sugar
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- Blanch the beef brisket in boiling water for 5 minutes, then rinse with cold water and set aside.
- Heat some oil in a pot and sauté the ginger, garlic, and green onions until fragrant.
- Add the beef brisket, star anise, and cinnamon stick to the pot.
- Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and rock sugar.
- Add water to cover the beef brisket, then bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours until the beef is tender.
- Remove the beef brisket from the pot and slice it. Serve with the braising sauce and steamed rice.
