Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chicken pieces and brown on all sides.
  3. Stir in the garlic, ginger, and green onions, and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, sugar, and Shaoxing wine, and stir to combine.
  5. Add the chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
  6. Transfer the chicken to a serving dish and pour the sauce over the top.
