上海红烧鸡 (Shanghai Style Braised Chicken) is a classic dish from the Haipai Cuisine, which originated in Shanghai and combines traditional Chinese flavors with Western influences.
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the chicken pieces and brown on all sides.
- Stir in the garlic, ginger, and green onions, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Pour in the soy sauce, sugar, and Shaoxing wine, and stir to combine.
- Add the chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
- Transfer the chicken to a serving dish and pour the sauce over the top.
