Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs lamb shoulder, cut into chunks
- 3 slices ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ginger, garlic, and green onions. Stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add lamb chunks to the pot and brown on all sides.
- Pour in soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and sugar. Stir to coat the lamb.
- Add star anise, cinnamon stick, and water to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 hours, or until the lamb is tender.
- Once the lamb is tender, remove the ginger, garlic, green onions, star anise, and cinnamon stick from the pot.
- Simmer the sauce until it thickens, then serve the braised lamb hot with steamed rice.
