Ingredients
- 4 pork knuckles
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup dark soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Shaoxing wine
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 6 slices ginger
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 star anise
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3 cups water
Instructions
- Place the pork knuckles in a large pot and add enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the pork knuckles and rinse under cold water.
- In the same pot, combine soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sugar, ginger, garlic, star anise, and cinnamon sticks. Add the pork knuckles back to the pot and pour in the water.
- Bring the liquid to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the pork knuckles are tender.
- Once the pork knuckles are tender, uncover the pot and continue to simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Transfer the braised pork knuckles to a serving dish and pour the sauce over the top. Serve hot and enjoy!
