Ingredients

  • 500g pork ribs
  • 3 potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 3 slices of ginger
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, blanch the pork ribs in boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove and rinse under cold water.
  2. Heat some oil in the pot, then add ginger, garlic, and green onions. Stir-fry until fragrant.
  3. Add the pork ribs and stir-fry until browned.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sugar, salt, and five-spice powder. Stir to coat the ribs.
  5. Add the potatoes and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, or until the meat is tender.
  6. Adjust seasoning if needed, then serve hot.
