Ingredients
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 3 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
- Slowly add the cornmeal to the boiling water, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Add the salt and continue to stir until the mixture thickens, about 10-15 minutes.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
- Spread half of the cornmeal mixture onto the bottom of a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle the crumbled feta cheese over the cornmeal layer.
- Cover the feta cheese with the remaining cornmeal mixture.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the top and sprinkle with black pepper.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Serve the shapkat hot and enjoy!
