Shapta (tibetan Style Spicy Beef Curry)

Ingredients

  • 500g beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 3-4 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are soft and golden brown.
  3. Add the minced ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the beef slices and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  5. Stir in the turmeric, cumin, coriander, and chili powders. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add the chopped tomatoes and soy sauce. Season with salt to taste.
  7. Cover the pan and let the curry simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the beef is tender.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
