Sharbat is a refreshing and aromatic drink that is popular in Tajik cuisine. This recipe combines the floral notes of rosewater with the sweet and tangy flavors of pomegranate, creating a delightful beverage perfect for hot summer days.
Ingredients
- 2 cups pomegranate juice
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons rosewater
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has completely dissolved to create a simple syrup. This should take about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- In a pitcher, combine the pomegranate juice, rosewater, and the prepared simple syrup. Stir well to mix all the ingredients.
- Refrigerate the sharbat for at least 1 hour to chill.
- Before serving, add ice cubes to the pitcher and stir to chill the sharbat further.
- Pour the sharbat into glasses, garnish with fresh mint leaves, and serve cold.
