Shashlik Dzhiget (walnut-stuffed Chicken)
Shashlik dzhiget, also known as Walnut-Stuffed Chicken, is a traditional dish from Circassian cuisine. This flavorful and aromatic dish is perfect for a special occasion or a family dinner.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cut a pocket into each chicken breast.
- In a bowl, mix together the walnuts, onion, garlic, coriander, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff each chicken breast with the walnut mixture.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the stuffed chicken breasts and cook for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, pour in the chicken broth and simmer for 5 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Pour the sauce over the stuffed chicken breasts and serve.
