Shashlik (spiced Lamb Kebabs)
Shashlik is a traditional Bukharan Jewish dish consisting of spiced lamb kebabs that are grilled to perfection. The combination of aromatic spices and tender lamb makes this dish a favorite among many.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs lamb, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the chopped onion, minced garlic, olive oil, paprika, cumin, turmeric, salt, and pepper.
- Add the lamb cubes to the bowl and coat them evenly with the spice mixture. Marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto skewers.
- Grill the kebabs for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired doneness.
- Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
