Ingredients

  • 500g chicken thighs, thinly sliced
  • 4 pita bread
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato, thinly sliced
  • 4 tbsp yogurt
  • 2 tbsp kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, kecap manis, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, chili powder, ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced chicken thighs and marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the marinated chicken until fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Warm the pita bread in the pan for about 1 minute on each side.
  4. Assemble the shawarma by placing the cooked chicken, sliced onion, cucumber, and tomato on the pita bread. Roll it up and serve.
