Shawarma Ayam Arab Indonesia, or Indonesian Arabic Chicken Shawarma, is a delicious fusion dish that combines the flavors of Indonesian and Arabic cuisine. This recipe features tender marinated chicken wrapped in pita bread and served with a variety of fresh vegetables and sauces.
Ingredients
- 500g boneless, skinless chicken thighs, thinly sliced
- 4 pita bread
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 4 tbsp tahini sauce
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne pepper, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken slices and marinate for at least 1 hour.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the marinated chicken for 6-8 minutes, or until fully cooked.
- Warm the pita bread in the skillet for 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Assemble the shawarma by placing the cooked chicken, onion, cucumber, tomatoes, and parsley on the pita bread. Drizzle with tahini sauce.
- Roll up the pita bread and serve the shawarma immediately.
