Ingredients
- 1 cup semolina
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup ground almonds
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground anise seeds
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup orange blossom water
- 1/4 cup water
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 cup honey
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds, toasted
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the semolina, flour, ground almonds, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and anise seeds.
- Add the vegetable oil, orange blossom water, and water to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a long rope. Shape the ropes into intricate flower-like designs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan. Fry the shaped dough until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- In a separate pan, heat the honey until warm. Dip the fried pastries in the warm honey, then sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
