Shi Zi Tou (lion's Head Meatballs)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups napa cabbage, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Form the mixture into large meatballs.
  2. In a deep skillet or pot, bring the chicken broth to a simmer. Add the napa cabbage to the broth.
  3. Gently place the meatballs into the simmering broth. Cover and let them cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  4. Serve the Lion's Head Meatballs with the cabbage and some of the broth in bowls.
