Shimla Mirch Bhorta (stuffed Capsicum)
Shimla Mirch Bhorta, also known as Stuffed Capsicum, is a popular Bangladeshi dish that features flavorful and spicy mashed vegetables stuffed inside bell peppers. This dish is a delightful combination of spices and textures, making it a perfect addition to any meal.
Ingredients
- 4 large bell peppers
- 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 3 tablespoons oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a bowl, mix the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the potato mixture.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and place the stuffed bell peppers in the pan.
- Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the bell peppers are tender.
- Serve hot with rice or roti.
