Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom

Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine the rice and milk. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add sugar and saffron, and continue to simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  3. Stir in the almonds, raisins, and cardamom. Cook for 5 more minutes, or until the pudding reaches the desired consistency.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
