Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the rinsed rice and cook for 10 minutes, then drain.
  3. In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the cooked rice, sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and almonds. Stir to combine.
  4. Cover the pot and cook the rice pudding over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed, remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.
