Shish Taouk (syrian Lamb Kebabs)
Shish Taouk is a popular Syrian dish made with tender lamb kebabs marinated in a flavorful blend of spices and yogurt. These kebabs are perfect for grilling and are a delicious addition to any barbecue or gathering.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs lamb, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 onion, cut into chunks
- 1 bell pepper, cut into chunks
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, garlic, olive oil, paprika, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
- Add the lamb cubes to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto skewers, alternating with chunks of onion and bell pepper.
- Grill the kebabs for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Remove the kebabs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
