Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried shrimp
  • 1 cup dried fish
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped garlic
  • 1/2 cup chopped ginger
  • 1/2 cup ground crayfish
  • 1/2 cup ground kpakpo shito (African bird's eye chili)
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Soak the dried shrimp and fish in hot water for 10 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add the dried shrimp, fish, ground crayfish, and ground kpakpo shito, and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, and salt, and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and let the shito cool to room temperature before transferring to a jar or container.
