Shito Sensation
Shito Sensation is a popular Ghanaian hot pepper sauce that adds a spicy kick to any dish. It is a versatile condiment that can be used as a dip, marinade, or cooking ingredient.
Ingredients
- 1 cup dried shrimp
- 1 cup dried fish
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped garlic
- 1/2 cup chopped ginger
- 1/2 cup ground crayfish
- 1/2 cup ground kpakpo shito (African bird's eye chili)
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Soak the dried shrimp and fish in hot water for 10 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the dried shrimp, fish, ground crayfish, and ground kpakpo shito, and cook for 5 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, and salt, and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let the shito cool to room temperature before transferring to a jar or container.
