Shorba (Bor Beef Stir-Fry) is a traditional South Sudanese dish that is packed with flavor and spices. This hearty beef stir-fry is perfect for a comforting and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
- 2 onions, sliced
- 3 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 bell peppers, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp coriander
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups beef broth
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and cook until they are soft and translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add the thinly sliced beef to the pan and cook until it is browned on all sides.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, sliced bell peppers, cumin, coriander, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for 20-25 minutes until the beef is tender and the flavors have melded together.
- Adjust the seasoning if needed, and serve the Shorba hot with rice or flatbread.
