Shrimp Ceviche (ceviche De Camarón)
Shrimp Ceviche, also known as Ceviche de Camarón, is a popular dish in Panamanian cuisine. This refreshing and flavorful seafood dish is perfect for a light and healthy meal or as an appetizer for a gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 pound of raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup of fresh lime juice
- 1 red onion, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 cucumber, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup of chopped cilantro
- 2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the shrimp and lime juice. Make sure the shrimp is fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes, or until the shrimp turns pink and opaque.
- Once the shrimp is cooked in the lime juice, drain the excess liquid.
- Add the chopped red onion, bell pepper, tomatoes, cucumber, cilantro, and jalapeño to the shrimp. Mix well.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
