Shuwa (spiced Lamb Kebabs)
Shuwa is a traditional Omani dish of spiced lamb kebabs that are bursting with flavor. This recipe is perfect for a special occasion or a festive gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lamb, cubed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the cubed lamb, chopped onion, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, ground cinnamon, ground turmeric, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
- Thread the marinated lamb onto the soaked wooden skewers.
- Heat a stovetop grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Grill the lamb kebabs for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Remove the kebabs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
