Sien Savanh, also known as Lao Beef Jerky, is a popular snack in Lao cuisine. It's a flavorful and savory dish that is perfect for munching on the go or as a side dish with sticky rice.
Ingredients
- 1 pound of beef, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup fish sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, black pepper, garlic, and sesame oil.
- Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat the dehydrator to 160°F (70°C).
- Remove the beef from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels.
- Place the beef slices on the dehydrator trays, leaving space between each slice for air circulation.
- Dehydrate the beef for 4-6 hours, or until it reaches your desired level of dryness.
- Once dried, let the beef jerky cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
